Most of you have heard or read posts about my daughter Evelyn and her Aspergers. Now,you can’t look at her and say “Oh yeah, she has Apsergers!” But after observing her habits and getting to know her you’ll see she’s not like everyone else. There’s something about Evelyn!
Anyway, the reason I’m sharing this is because most kids her age notice this difference and don’t understand it. They tend to pick on her and make fun of her. They can be hurtful with their words, actions and stares. Some, even throw the blame on her for things they’ve done…making her the villain instead of the victim.
You can just imagine how it breaks my heart when she comes home and tells me how a girl scribbled in her diary when Evelyn asked her to watch her things while she went to the bathroom. How another lied and said Evelyn hit her with a rope, when in fact, the other little girl hit Evelyn! How kids make fun of her because she still sucks her thumb, but it is her thumb that brings her comfort when she’s being harassed! Some girls even make fun of her obesession with coins; but I really think they’re jealous of her ability to find at least one everyday.
All this trauma my 7yr old endures because she has Aspergers! But I tell you, it is my child who is a fighter and compassionate! You see, although it breaks my heart…hers gets stronger and bigger!
She’s a loving child who thinks of others, when others don’t!
You see, this morning we were running late for school when Evelyn asked me to make her lunch. I told her I didn’t have time and she would have to eat the school lunch. Her eyes fell to the floor as did her smile. But, Evelyn being the witty-fast thinker said, “ Ok then! Can you bring me some soup and my chips at 11:00 am? That’s when I have lunch!” I asked her why this was so important! She said, “My friend sits by herself every day. She’s allergic to peanuts! I don’t want her to sit by herself anymore, but I have to bring a peanut free lunch. My soup doesn’t have peanuts! So, can you bring my lunch?” My heart melted as I witnessed the compassion Evelyn had for her friend! “Sure, baby! I’ll bring your lunch!” So I did! I dropped off her lunch so she can accompany her friend at her special table!
Sometimes we forget about others and their own struggles!
Evelyn knew that her friend shouldn’t be outcasted due to something she was born with…an Allergy! I guess she knew how it felt…and that it was wrong! So Evelyn thought about a solution and took action to rectify this problem! Although this is a story about young kids, its’ also a story about adults! It is our duty and right to reach out and bring joy to others with our company.
This past week, I cruised the Mexican Riviera with my company, Numis Network and solidified virtual friendships and met other spectacular people! Here’s a picture of me with other Numis Reps and leaders, Jordan Schultz and his lovely girlfriend Sarah, along with NLP master Shane Carpenter and his good friend Randy Stover standing infront of a legendary Mayan site! How cool is that?!
Listen, although our company deals with coins and assets, the real assets are the relationships we build with each other! Not just within the company, but within our homes! The leaders, the founders, the other reps, the spouses, the children, the home office…everyone in the company is directly affected by each other…and that’s how we should be in our lives as well!
If you’re an expert in network marketing or internet marketing, or you’re brand new to the industry, you know how vital it is to build relationships in order to build your business. People are not dollar signs, they’re people! Look, Jordan Schultz is my sponsor in Empower Networkand he’s hanging out with me and everyone else! He’s a down to earth kind of guy! As he should be! I’m not a dollar sign to him, I’m a person who asked for help!
If you’re like me and have tons of ‘friends’ on Facebook, I encourage you to reach out to at least one person a day and build a stronger bond… Don’t just hit “LIKE” on their Facebook Status! Don’t be afraid to build friendships! It only takes a few minutes to introduce yourself and say hello! The rest is natural! So if you see my number on your cell…PICK UP!!
Until Next Time!

There is something very special to be learned from this post Corina. I think anyone reading it through will leave this page with a more positive outlook on the value of real relationship and character building. Regardless of any condition, your daughter obviously has a ton of character and is unselfishly caring. Even a challenged child can identify the real value in life is in the genuine heartfelt connections and the relationships we build on our journeys throughout life. Thanks for the share
Thank you Shane. She is such a joy…Yes we’ve had some trying times, but its amazing how resilient she’s become. I guess the “momma bear” inside me will always be. Evelyn continues to teach me how to be patient, caring and how to live in the present. She’s such a gift! As she says, “Being normal is boring!” and her favorite “Why can’t I?” LOL~~ Gotta love her spirit! I hope this small piece will assist in bringing light to Aspergers Syndrome and Autism! Please share with others and help us spread the word! Thanks again, Shane! Corina B
